Justice Is Necessary, Full Scale Bombing of Civilians Must Stop

TEXAS – Today, Roland Gutierrez, Candidate for U.S. Senate and State Senator, released a statement on the ongoing impact of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
“I support a ceasefire in the region. Perpetrators must be sought out and must face judgment for the October 7th attack and war crimes. Israel has a right to root out Hamas terrorists, and should. Justice must be served for those lost in the horrendous attacks by Hamas. However, bombing communities with impunity is not the answer. The world community, in concert with the Palestinian Authority should continue every effort to investigate and root out those terrorists by less catastrophic means.
Israeli hostages must be returned to their families. The indiscriminate killings of civilians must stop – tanks rolling into neighborhoods and bombing children is not justice. We must reach peace in honor of all the lives that have been lost in this decades-long conflict.
This is a complicated issue and requires a complicated response. At the end of the day, I choose peace. Israel has a right to exist and so do other states in this region, and we owe it to all of humankind to call for peace and justice without continued full scale bombing of civilians.”
