Loose Republican gun laws are responsible for the terror in our communities.

TEXAS – Today, Roland Gutierrez, candidate for the U.S. Senate, issued a statement condemning the fatal mass shooting Wednesday evening in Maine, in which at least 22 people were announced dead and dozens more injured.
“Texans are too familiar with gun tragedies. As we have seen in Uvalde, loose gun laws supported by irresponsible and selfish politicians like Ted Cruz are killing us. Classrooms, supermarkets, state fairs, bowling alleys, movie theaters, the mall – no place is safe as long as these people are in office. The American people are being held hostage by the gun lobby and Ted Cruz.”
Texas and Maine have similar gun laws:
- Don’t require background checks on all gun sales
- No red flag law
- Doesn’t prevent domestic abusers from accessing guns
- No assault weapons ban
- No magazine capacity limits
- Concealed carry permits not required
- Unrestricted open carry
- No waiting periods
