ROLAND GUTIERREZ OFFICIALLY FILES FOR U.S. SENATE RACE

For Immediate Release: December 9, 2023

AUSTIN, TEXAS – State Senator Roland Gutierrez officially filed documents declaring his candidacy for the U.S. Senate at the Texas Democratic Party Headquarters in Austin. Gutierrez was joined by supporters from Uvalde, Mothers for Democracy / Mothers Against Greg Abbott, young voters and students from across Texas to file for the U.S. Senate and be placed on the March primary ballot.

Roland Gutierrez joined by his wife, Sarah Gutierrez, Uvalde Parents Brett and Niki Cross, Nancy Thompson, founder of Mothers Against Greg Abbott.

“After May 24th, we were told to look towards your leaders and we tried to but no one came through except for Roland,” said Brett Cross, father of Uziyah Garcia, who was killed in the Uvalde massacre. “Roland’s been there since day one fighting for our kids, fighting for us, and fighting for Texas as a whole. I stand. He puts the heart right there in Texas.”

“Roland stands with Texass families and Texas families are gonna stand with Roland. Roland Gutierrez has shown up for Texas working families,” said Nancy Thompson, Founder of Mothers Against Greg Abbott director of Mothers for Democracy. “He has been actively campaigning even with four special sessions. Texas needs someone who is going to work hard for our state and fight for the things that matter most to Texans; preventing gun violence, fixing the immigration crisis, and keeping money in our pocketbooks.”

“We’ve got to change this state. After the Robb Elementary Massacre, we saw every failure that happened in Uvalde. In Uvalde and across the state thousands joined together to demand change, but we saw first hand how our leaders only care about maintaining power.

“I’m a gun owner and a believer of the second amendment but after 19 children and 2 teachers died, Republicans wouldn’t even allow us to have a conversation about gun safety. But what happened in Uvalde wasn’t just about guns, it was about neglect of rural Texas and the systems in this state that are supposed to keep us safe.

“I’m running against Ted Cruz, because everything we’ve seen in this state has been nothing but Republicans taking care of their rich donors, while the working class gets left behind. I’m going to work hard to fix the real problems of today. Texans will have a Senator that will fight for them. ” said U.S. Senate candidate Roland Gutierrez.
