Operation Lone Star is wasteful political theater at the US-Mexico Border

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Today, Senator Roland Gutierrez called out Republicans who have shamelessly exploited the suffering of those affected by Operation Lone Star for their own political gains. Instead of advocating for solutions that uphold human rights, these governors and their supporters like Ted Cruz have used the Texas border as a backdrop for their political theater, an act Gutierrez characterizes as a sickening display of opportunism.
“Let me be absolutely clear: the cruelty and inhumanity Ted Cruz and others have endorsed at the border under Operation Lone Star is unacceptable and a damning stain on our values as Americans. It’s a stark reminder of how far we’ve fallen when politicians deploy the vast resources of the state through inhumane policy based in fear and prejudice rather than compassion and decency,” stated Senator Roland Gutierrez.
“Tearing families apart, subjecting people to death traps, and pushing four-year-olds into the river doesn’t make us any safer. $10 billion of Texas’ tax dollars are going to torturing immigrant children instead of educating Texas children. Republicans are using this situation as a twisted political stunt. Instead of working with the Federal p, Ted Cruz and his allies are more interested in exploiting the suffering for political points.
