Gutierrez: “Republicans’ cruelty at the border must come to an end.”

TEXAS – Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez, candidate for the U.S. Senate, released a statement following the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals denial of the State of Texas’ appeal to keep deadly buoys at the border. The news comes a day after Texas was told that it could not stop federal agents from removing razor wire at the border.

“These rulings mean that Operation Lone Star is very likely unconstitutional. The most inhumane tactics of Operation Lone Star ought to come to a halt before more lives are lost and the next billion in Texas taxpayer dollars are lit on fire. It’s time to stop drowning and torturing women and children at the border – Texas must remove the buoys and they shouldnt erect more razor wire that blocks the U.S. government from saving people in the river.
“Operation Lone Star doesn’t make anyone safer, it is not a true immigration or border security solution. Greg Abbott has put on quite the show, but the reality is that people are dying in the river, South Texas residents are being killed in DPS’ high speed chases, and Congress continues to fail. Until extremist politicians like Ted Cruz are kicked out of office and we all get serious about fixing a broken immigration system.”
Roland Gutierrez has been an outspoken critic of Operation Lone Star and recently released a five-point immigration plan to fix America’s challenges at the border.
