Ted Cruz’s sponsorship of loose gun laws put firearms into the hands of child murderers.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Today, the Houston Chronicle reported Houston Independent School District implemented a policy “that requires most educators across the district to teach with their classroom doors open during instruction time when school starts next week, a measure that some parents and teachers say peels back an important layer of safety.” Senator Roland Gutierrez responded, blaming loose gun laws and politicians like Ted Cruz that only make things worse for Texans.
“Ted Cruz’s reckless gun laws have put every child in Texas in danger. We must do something at the state and federal level to stop this in our communities. Children deserve to be safe in their schools, at church, in the mall, and at the grocery store – we need to provide safety from gun violence in our communities,” stated Roland Gutierrez.
“The decisions made by this Governor’s hand-picked administrator is about being suspicious of teachers, not our childrens’ safety. Teachers and parents have extremely valid concerns about the safety of our schools after the tragic events of Uvalde and Santa Fe. We have to listen to them and keep our kids safe.”
“I’ve seen what happens when the safety net falls. The victims and families of Uvalde and Santa Fe have seen what happens. I’m going to fight alongside them to make sure it never happens again.”
