Five Weeks Before Early Vote, Gutierrez Only Candidate to Accept Debate
For Immediate Release: January 12, 2024
TEXAS – U.S. Senate candidate and State Senator Roland Gutierrez will attend the TEGNA Democratic Primary Debate next month.
“The stakes are high this year and in a state as big as Texas, it’s crucial voters hear from the candidates that seek to represent and fight for them in the United States Senate,” said Sam Robles, spokesperson for Roland Gutierrez campaign. “We are pleased to accept TEGNA’s invitation for a statewide televised debate to speak to nearly every Texas household directly about this important election.”
“Far too often, politicians avoid the tough questions, hide behind generic rhetoric, and rely on big money to grant them public office. Voters, not D.C. elites or big money, need to decide who is ready to defeat Senator Ted Cruz, and the first step to earning people’s trust and vote is showing up. This year, democracy is on the line, and accepting the status quo will simply not cut it anymore.”
Roland Gutierrez has been barnstorming Texas since announcing his run in July, meeting with primary voters, engaging with local parties, unions, and progressive organizations, and talking about the issues that matter to Texans.
The TEGNA debate is scheduled for Tuesday, February 20th at KVUE News studio in Austin and will be moderated by KVUE News Anchor Ashley Goudeau.
The debate will be broadcast live at 6:00 PM CT on all platforms across TEGNA’s stations in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Waco, College Station, Tyler, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, Abilene and San Angelo.
TEGNA, via KVUE, hosted a statewide platform for Senate candidates MJ Hegar and Royce West to debate the issues in the 2020 primary election.
