Chaos in Washington D.C. and ineffective Border Wall policies exacerbate crumbling U.S. immigration system
For Immediate Release: October 6, 2023
TEXAS – Today, U.S. Senate Candidate Roland Gutierrez, issued the following statement on border wall construction along the Texas-Mexico border.
“Chaos, neglect, and low-tech barriers are not serious solutions to the country’s broken immigration system. Property owners, border communities, and Democrats agree that walls do not work. We need a strong immigration system that puts our economy on steroids while addressing the root of the migration problems.
“Dysfunction in Washington has led to failed policies that do not address the root of the problem. Congressman Colin Allred has now chosen to join the D.C. idiocy on this issue, and he’s dead wrong. Trump’s wall is not a serious solution.
“Texas can and should lead the way in fixing our immigration system by focusing on a program to fill jobs Americans don’t want to do, smart security, and shutting down the cartels. Now is the time for Washington D.C. to listen to the leaders of South Texas who understand the border best.
“D.C. politicians thrive on the system’s failures. Rather than work to find the real solutions to Texas’ issues, Congress made a choice to waste billions of our taxpayer dollars on a dumb talking point that does absolutely nothing to fix the real problem.
“I can promise Texans this, I’m not gonna stand idly by while the government – state or federal – steals their land to build a wall that just won’t work.”
Roland Gutierrez is an immigration lawyer from South Texas. As State Senator, he represents 400 miles of the Texas-Mexico border in his district.
