Gutierrez: “I’m not going to stop until we win, until we change Republican policies that are hurting people.”
For Immediate Release: November 6, 2023
TEXAS – On Thursday, U.S. Senate candidate Roland Gutierrez visited the Rio Grande Valley for a meeting on drainage and flooding issues with Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes, a tour of Rio Grande Valley College and meetings with students and faculty, a lunch and neighborhood canvass with Cameron County Democratic leaders and activists, and a concert headlined by four-time Grammy award winning Tejano artist Ramón Ayala.
Gutierrez’ day in the Valley began at Rio Grande Valley College in Weslaco, visiting with nursing students and faculty. “Young people are getting screwed over and scammed. When I went to school it was affordable, now students are walking out with degrees that cost as much as a home mortgage. Young people shouldn’t have to shoulder that debt fresh out of college. We need a 100% tax credit that provides a world-class college education,” said Gutierrez at Rio Grande Valley College.
The U.S. Senate candidate continued to a lunch at Cobbleheads in Brownsville with Cameron County Democratic precinct chairs, followed by a neighborhood canvass for the November elections with Northern Cameron County Democrats. Returning to Weslaco, Roland Gutierrez hosted a concert headlined by Tejano legend and philanthropist Ramón Ayala.
“We’re a diverse state, but Texans from all backgrounds really just want the same thing. Texans are worried about the pain in their pocketbooks, the gun violence wreaking havoc in our communities, and the lack of reasonable solutions from Congress on the border.”
“I’m not going to stop until we win. I’m not going to stop until we change Republican policies that are hurting people. Because thirty years of their power in Texas is far too long. It’s time that we get Ted Cruz’ foot off our necks and create jobs and real opportunity for Texans. We’re going to do all of these things, and we are going to do them together.” said Roland Gutierrez.
“Rolando Gutierrez is a good person, a good friend of the people, and he is the man that is going to move us forward. I’m asking everyone to come out and support Roland Gutierrez for the United States Senate, because we all need him,” said Ramón Ayala.
